Porcupine Fish Attractors- Artificial Habitat

Porcupine Fish Attractors are the most innovative fish attractor available on the market today, with the sole purpose of improving your fish catching efficiency. These fish attractors are easy to build, easy to submerge and best of all, easy to fish. If you're looking for a very affordable fish attractor that will last forever, look no farther...Porcupine Fish Attractors is the way to go!

WHAT IS THE PORCUPINE FISH ATTRACTOR?…It’s an artificial fishing structure that brings fish and fishermen closer together. A plastic sphere allows 26 separate ½-inch plastic pipes to stick out, creating lots of cover for fish to hide around, spawn, etc… You can fish it without snagging and losing lures such as jigs, crankbaits, etc

Porcupine Fish Attractors improve spawning habitat while providing valuable structure for all species of fish in all size lakes. Porcupine attractors are used by professional guides, tournament anglers, and more to attract fish to specific locations. I mainly use them to create ice fishing reefs that are snag free! I also have attached and suspended quite a few porcupine attractors directly underneath docks to help hold more fish!

The most economical way to purchase porcupine attractors is to just buy the spheres only. Standard 1/2" pvc pipe can be purchased locally and custom cut to whatever size you want and then stuck into the 26 different 1/2" premade holes in the porcupine sphere. I have custom made tons of porcupine spheres using 5' long pvc pipe. All put together that makes a porcupine attractor that is almost 10.5 feet across! I use those for water deeper than 15 feet. I do not recommend making them any bigger.

1/2 inch pvc pipe typically sells for about 10-15 cents per foot at a local hardware store. If you purchase the spheres only, you will need the following amounts of 1/2 inch PVC pipe to make these size porcupine attractors:

2.5 foot attractor- 26 feet of pipe- About $2.60 pipe cost
4 foot attractor- 50 feet of pipe- About $5.00 pipe cost
5.5 foot attractor- 65 feet of pipe- About $6.50 pipe cost
10.5 foot attractor- 130 feet of pipe About $13.00 pipe cost

Porcupine Spheres and Complete Attractor kits can be purchased from Herman Brothers Pond Management in Peoria, Illinois as well as online at hbpondmanagement.com

Hydrothol 191 Algaecide and Herbicide

Hydrothol 191 Granular Aquatic Herbicide/Algaecide is the most versatile granular product ever! It is excellent for use in spot treatment due to its wide range of herbicidal activity on most aquatic species and also very effectively kills most forms of algae too.

Hydrothol 191 Algaecide/Herbicide effectively kills most pondweeds, naiads, milfoils, coontail, stargrass, hydrilla, canada waterweed, planktonic algae, filamentous algae, and chara. Hydrothol is the perfect choice for lakeshore weed & algae control.

Due to the fast activity of Hydrothol, it can be effectively used in slow moving water, such as drainage and irrigation canals. Hydrothol is also effective in muddy or murky water because it does not bind to the suspended sediment or organic matter.

Hydrothol is the only registered broad spectrum organic aquatic algaecide available today. It can be used in combination, in rotation or as an alternative to copper for control of algae.

Application Rates:
Application rates vary depending upon depth and plant types.

For most submersed weed applications 10 lbs will treat 2,000 square feet.
For most algae applications I recommend using 3 lbs per acre foot.

For example
A 2 acre pond that averages 4 feet deep would be a total of 8 acre feet. You would need 24 lbs of Hydrothol 191 to treat the algae in the whole pond.

A patch of mixed aquatic vegetation along a shoreline that goes out 20 feet and is 100 feet long would be 2,000 square feet. You would need to apply 10 lbs of Hydrothol 191 to effectively treat this patch.

Application Tips:
How to apply Hydrothol 191?

Just simply broadcast Hydrothol 191 with a hand scoop or a spreader directly onto the vegetation. Always try to calculate the square footage of the treatment area so you can use the correct amount of Hydrothol within that area. Doing this will save quite a bit of product waste and overuse.

For best results, apply Hydrothol early in the plants life cycle while it is still actively growing to provide season long control. During the summer I would recommend not treating more than 1/3 of a pond at a time.

Water Use Restrictions:
Hydrothol is very safe for fish if used properly. There is a 3 day fish consumption restriction, 7-25 day irrigating, livestock, and general water use restriction depending on the dosage, and a 1 day swimming restriction following the application of Hydrothol 191.

Hydrothol 191 can be purchased at Herman Brothers Pond Management in Peoria, Illinois, or online at www.hbpondmanagement.com

Curly Leaf Pond Weed- 10 lbs treats 15,000 square feet.
Eurasian Watermilfoil- 10 lbs treats 15,000 square feet.
Hydrilla- 10 lbs treats 10,000 square feet.
Coontail- 10 lbs treats 10,000 square feet.

Application Tips:
How to apply Aquathol Super K?

Just simply broadcast Aquathol Super K with a hand scoop or a spreader directly onto the vegetation. Always try to calculate the square footage of the treatment area so you can use the correct amount of Aquathol within that area. Doing this will save quite a bit of product waste and overuse.

The Texas Hunter D125 is the very best fish feeder ever made! They are made up of the very highest quality material available right here in the United States of America.

I have tried out and sold every type, style, and brand of fish feeders ever made and the Texas Hunter is by the best unit we have ever used. From the time you take it out of the box, it only takes about 5 minutes to finish assembly and set the timer to start feeding!

I have never had a problem yet with any of the Texas Hunter feeders we have sold and installed for clients: no jams, low batteries, wet food, or any malfunctions whatsoever!

The small 12 volt rechargeable battery keeps the timer and motor running, and the premium solar panel keeps the battery charged all season long!

Navigate 2,4-D Granular Aquatic Herbicide

Navigate Aquatic Herbicide is a granular formulation of 2, 4-d and is especially effective in controlling Eurasian Watermilfoil, Coontail, and Water Lillies. Navigate is used for selective control of nuisance aquatic vegetation, and is very safe and easy to to apply.

Application Rates:
Apply 100 lbs per acre to kill Eurasian Watermilfoil.
Apply 100 lbs per acre to kill Coontail
Apply 150 lbs per acre to kill Water Lilies

Application Tips:
How to apply Navigate Aquatic Herbicide?

Navigate granular herbicide is very easy to apply using a scoop, cup, or a hand spreader. Just simply scoop up some Navigate granules and throw them directly onto the milfoil, water lilies, or coontail. It is best to treat the vegetation early in the season while it is still actively growing.

The key to proper applications is to estimate your square footage of weeds and then make sure to get the right amount of Navigate evenly spread throughout the area.

Keep in mind that one acre of water is about 44,000 square feet. If your treating a section of milfoil that goes out 20 feet and is 200 feet long, than you are treating 4,000 square feet. You would need to evenly disperse approximately 10-15 lbs of Navigate to kill the milfoil in this area.

Wait about 10 days and then go back to that same area again and treat any remaining milfoil.

Where to Buy Navigate:
Navigate can be purchased at Herman Brothers Pond Management in Peoria, Illinois. It can also be purchased online at:
